Line

"Why, You got a guilty conscience about something." Page 27 , captain to Guy
This is meaningful because it shows that Guy is guilty of keeping books and the Captain knows it. it also shows a sign of rebellion.  I think Guy s going to get caught

Concert Evaluation

This  Wednesday, March 6, I attended a Concert in the Pewaukee High School Auditorium. I, frankly, think it was the most beautiful performance I had ever heard from these 3 bands They acted professionally and their overall quality was off the charts. But I noticed there were a few flaws. But I Particularly loved a few songs.
I never had before seen people of this age act so professional. And also look the part. Many of the Trumpets had their bells up in the air. Also many of the flutes had their flutes up and their backs straight. I Indeed  noticed  the diversity of the kind of music  which made their performance sound much better that their previous Winter concert. I especially liked the transitions from Stage to Seat  I liked  all 3 of the band’s professional foot tapping too. I could also see plainly who tried and who didn't.
I’d have to say that even better than the  professionalism was the Music. I recognized many of the songs as hard songs That high Schoolers  play.  Many of the songs were unfamiliar to me but two of them stuck out and I liked how their dynamic, intonation, balance were Proficient. They were “the Music From Carmen,” and “25 or 6 to 4,” Some of the trumpets even pierced some of the high notes perfectly. I had favourite aspects from all 3 of the Bands.  During the Jazz Band portion I liked how the band Jazzed the Rock music, which I loved. One of my favourite songs was “The Great Locomotive Chase,” which Bested the 8th Grade with great blend, Balance, and best of all  Dynamics. The song also painted a great picture in my mind. Another favourite was “Abandoned Treasure Hunt,” which bested the 7th grade in, lend, balance and articulation but defiantly not Dynamics. The dynamics were too loud  in the soft places. My final favorite was “25 or 6 to 4,” a great Chicago song full of great dynamics and I liked the jazziness of that whole piece.
Hopefully, I will get to hear the 7th/8th grade bands perform again because their concert rocked. I plan to see them again. it wasn’t perfect, All 3 of the bands could work on their dynamics more and probably posture, but it sounded nice anyways. Remember! Posture+ practice= Mastery.

The Abyss (with Figurative language Labeling)

The Abyss

The seas so blue with azure tints
The sky as red as the sun
They came-- the agents of destruction
To end our reign of none

They took  our mothers our fathers our sons
I wonder…. will they take me--
Into the black abyss

My fright of them, great
My friends, gone
I try to fend them off
So I won’t fall into that black abyss

My people’s innocence matters less to the agents
They  try to fight--
They try to hide--
From the black abyss

I am left alone in my land
Everyone gone ‘cept me
I trip and scrape my knee and they attack
Trying to grab me into that black abyss

I lay there
Too weak to move
Too weak to fight
 I give up
To the black abyss

I awake to my family standing around me
That wasn't real--
It was a nightmare--
But what is the black abyss

I ponder it for many years
Doing test after test
Finally, after many years of fear
Of the black abyss

On a midsummer evening
My beard long and white
I found out
By slipping into the black Abyss

This, I think, is a great example of lots of figurative language. It has many Similes such as, “The sky as red as the sun.” the job of a Simile is to compare two things with like, or as. This fabulous poem also has examples of metaphors, like, “The Black Abyss.” The Black Abyss is what this guy had been going toward all this life, which is, Death. ‘The Black Abyss; also has human traits (personification)  making it able to travel and making it look like an unstoppable army (which it is).  It also had a lot of rhythm making it sound like a old Fashioned lay.  I didn't Spot any other Figurative language.
